About the Vigilis Voleguard
Vole damage is the failure that catches schemes out. A tree can be perfectly protected from deer at 1.5m and still be killed at ground level over a single winter by voles and field mice girdling the bark under the grass line — and because the damage happens out of sight beneath the sward, it is usually not spotted until the tree fails in spring.

The Vigilis Vole Guard is a rigid single-wall wrap that push-fits around the base of the stem. It needs no cable ties or stakes and takes seconds to fit, which matters when it is being added to thousands of plants. At 38mm diameter it fits stems up to 32mm, covering whips and transplants through the years when they are most vulnerable.
It is designed to be used inside a tree shelter or mesh guard, not instead of one. On a site with both deer and voles the correct specification is a shelter at the appropriate height with a vole guard at the base — the shelter alone does not seal at ground level against small rodents. On sites where voles are the only pressure, the guard is used on its own.
Specify 20cm as standard, and 25cm where the grass sward is heavy or snow cover is expected to raise the effective browsing line.
